As someone who suffers from digestive issues, you are probably wondering what types of foods and staple items are always in my pantry and refrigerator. I wanted to share with you a few things I always have in stock.
I think that it is really important to organize your pantry after a big market run. I like to keep similar items together such as nuts, nut butters, spices or grains. This way you always know what you have on hand and will be easier to tell what you are missing. I tend to keep nut butters and nuts stored in the fridge after opening them to keep the from going rancid and to last longer.
Of course, when I am trying new recipes I make the extra trips to the market and it’s also important to realize that my staple items are what work best for my body and dietary restrictions. You may have different foods that you love and should include in your kitchen! My foods and recipes fit my lifestyle and my current dietary needs!
I typically freeze all of my fruit for smoothies.
Sweet Potatoes (Japanese yams)
Cauliflower *(I will steam, then freeze this to make smoothies extra thick, you will not taste the flavor)
Organic Meats/Wild Caught Fish:
Lean ground white turkey
Wild caught Salmon
Almond Milk* I make my own milks and you can find the recipe here for cashew milk on my blog.
