Oh stress, it seems to sneak up on us when we don't need it to be around, the anxiety keeps us up at night, prevents us from accomplishing our to do lists, causes us to hold tensions in our bodies; and if you are anything like me, your stomach in particular! The unwanted stress and anxiety can do a number on our bodies and it can take a while to rebalance our systems out, or really just feel more calm, less bloated, less anxious, and sleep through the night! Last month during one of my Tuesday Threads posts I talked all about my ways of dealing with anxiety, foods to help with it, foods to help with sleep, as well as yoga poses to help calm down your body and mind! You can read about it here.
One of the hardest things for me is knowing what I want for breakfast, snack before bed that will keep me sleeping through the night, or if I am getting home late from a yoga class and I just want something on the lighter side that is refreshing, yet packed with protein, healthy fats, and something substantial enough I can call it dinner! I am not much of a breakfast eater, but prefer to have something that is easily digested upon waking up such as a smoothie and sometimes for dinner I love making smoothies so my body isn't working on overdrive to digest a heavy meal before bed causing me to have trouble falling asleep. Therefore, if you aren't eating properly during the day, or not sleeping throughout the night, you can become easily agitated by stress!
I've been using Vital Proteins for a while; you can see some recipes (cacao oatmeal bake) or (collagen sweet potato salad w/ a mustard vinaigrette) and it has seriously helped with my leaky gut as well as many of my every day digestive health issues such as bloating, inflammation, and SIBO! It is easy to add the collagen peptides (I love the marine collagen!) into your smoothies, drinks, baked recipes, or any energy bites because it is completely tasteless! I swear by it and was so excited to try the Beauty Water; Lavender Lemon flavor. Lately, I've been adding the lavender lemon flavor into my waters because drinking plain water after a while can be hard all day long and boring! The lavender lemon flavor gives it a subtle taste, making it super refreshing and I also love adding it into a warm drink in the evenings before bed to help relax! It also comes in Melon Mint and Cucumber Aloe!
I decided that I wanted to add it to my smoothies so I could have one at night when I got home late from working out and needed something a little light for dinner, but something that would hold me over until the morning BUT would help relax my body! Besides adding the Vital Proteins Beauty Water, I filled the smoothie with things like; frozen blueberries, almond butter, maca powder, mint and a few other things that are so beneficial for your gut!
Also, lavender helps you relax AND the collagen is doing something amazing for your digestion. I am a firm believer that if your digestion is on track then so is your mind! Allowing you to sleep better, stress less, and just be yourself! Our gut is our second brain!
The Vital Proteins Beauty Water also helps with improving your skin by keeping it hydrated and firm, plus I added in blueberries for antioxidants and avocados for healthy fats that are not only great for gut health but your skin as well! Having a smoothie that is packed with healthy fats, collagen, lavender, mint, and even things like almond butter that contain magnesium to help with muscle cramps or headaches, is an easy way to sip on something during the morning hoursbefore bed to help relax your digestive system and it is low in sugar!
This smoothie is so refreshing, has hints of blueberry, lavender and a touch of mint! The avocado makes it really creamy and you can't taste the cauliflower! It is the perfect post workout smoothie or just one on a really hot day!
